Denaby Main JFC were formed in 2012 and with the consent of the Denaby  Miners Welfare Trustees took over as  occupants of Tickhill Square. They joined the Doncaster Senior League being placed in Division 1 and in that first season were crowned champions as well as winning the Division 1 League Cup. They then played one season in the Premier Division  finishing as  runners up before entering the  Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League in 2014. A hugely  successful season followed  with the team being crowned Division 2 Champions as well as winning the  County FA  Association Cup.

Twelve months later after finishing third in Division1 they achieved promotion again to earn a place in the Premier Division. They lasted 2 seasons in the top tier, being reprieved from relegation after   finishing bottom in that first campaign but there was no reprieve in that second season and they were relegated after finishing 3rd bottom.

Five seasons followed back in division 1 though a covid hit season in 2020/21 may well have curtailed their efforts after a good start to  that campaign, as it was they were promoted back to the top flight  after finishing 3rd  in Division1 in 2022/23. Last season wasn’t easy  with a 4th bottom finish but the team  did enough to keep their place  in the Premier Division. The team might rightly now be described as the first team with the formation of  a  Development side  for this coming season and they will be playing in the County Senior League Division 2, the aim of this team being to  develop young players who can go on to play for the first team.  Its not only on the field that progress has been made, with no occupants on the ground Tickhill Square had become a little derelict in the years prior to the teams formation however a strong committee  has made major improvements to the  ground. Dugouts and a new stand  have been built and funding from the Football Foundation has enabled new changing rooms to be built , with plans in place for Floodlighting in the near future.

It is not just open age football where  great strides are being made to move the club forward.  Based mainly over the road on the old cricket field the club currently supports 7 junior sides,   5 boys and 2 girls teams. There has been no cricket on that site for a number of years with the grassed surface  and the pavilion needing a lot of work to bring the field back into use, thanks to some dedicated  people on the Committee this has been achieved and the Juniors have some good facilities for them to play their football.
